In a steadfast commitment to social responsibility, ATOM has undertaken a series of initiatives dedicated to supporting and uplifting communities, since September 2022. This case study recaps five of ATOM's notable community engagement activities in the past year, aligning with our Ten Commitments to ‘Beyond Better’ which guides our efforts across the organisation.
1. Telemedicine Partnership with Trust Oo
Responding to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, ATOM partnered with Trust Oo on 30 September 2022 to introduce free and unlimited 24/7 telemedicine services. The phased rollout includes general and specialist consultations, improving access to high-quality healthcare services for our valued customers. We are glad to announce that our partnership with Trust Oo has been renewed for another year, for the benefit of our valued customers.
2. Season of Gratitude
From October to December 2022, ATOM initiated 'Season of Gratitude,' a campaign that unfolded across 70 cities in Myanmar, encompassing more than 200 donation activities during the festive period. With a generous allocation of over MMK 700 million, the initiative positively impacted over 200,000 people. The campaign activities ranged from distributing rice and food items to contributing books and pens to orphanages, embodying ATOM's commitment to cultural values and the ethos of giving back to our communities, especially during festive seasons.
3. Flood Relief in Kayin and Mon States
In the wake of devastating floods in Kayin and Mon states, ATOM acted promptly by making a donation of aid items valued at a total of MMK 53.8 million on 9 June 2023. Focused on providing essential relief items such as food supplies, water purification tablets, and electrolytes, ATOM's assistance directly reached around 2,000 households. This rapid humanitarian response exemplifies ATOM's desire to support communities during times of crisis.
4. Supporting Relief and Rebuilding Efforts after Cyclone Mocha
To support the recovery of Rakhine State post-Cyclone Mocha, ATOM provided essential items and construction materials valued at a total of MMK 212,287,500 on 17 August 2023 to the affected communities. Collaborating with We Love Rakhine, ATOM's contributions were aimed at providing 250 households with food items and materials for rebuilding homes. This effort was part of ATOM's Humanitarian Care & Rehabilitation Programme.
5. Bago Region Flood Relief
In response to severe flooding in Bago Region on 10 October 2023, ATOM announced a donation of MMK 60 million and provided free communication services to affected customers. Essential relief items, including food supplies and water purification tablets, were swiftly dispatched by our dedicated ATOM employees from Yangon and Bago regions to approximately 2,000 households despite the logistical challenges.
Reflecting on ATOM’s social responsibility efforts outlined in this case study, I take pride in being part of a company that prioritises the well-being and resilience of the communities we serve.
Guided by our three corporate responsibility pillars of Digitalisation of Education & Health, Advancing Life & Education, and Humanitarian Care & Assistance, we are driven to make further contributions towards a Beyond Better Future for Myanmar and its people.
