Yangon, Myanmar, 28 September 2026 – ATOM, Myanmar's leading 4.5G network provider, is continuing its commitment to creating a ‘Beyond Better Future’ for communities through its “ATOM’s Lifetime Gift” initiative which provides free cleft lip and palate surgery and essential medical support to children in need across Myanmar. Launched to mark ATOM’s anniversary under its “Advancing Life and Education” CSR pillar, the initiative aims to improve access to essential healthcare and create better opportunities for children.
As of September 2026, ATOM has contributed a total of MMK 140 million to the programme, supporting 64 children across Myanmar. Of these, 48 children have completed surgery, including 10 children treated at Mandalar Hospital in Chan Aye Thar Zan Township, Mandalay Region, on 9 July 2026; 10 children treated at Myat Taw Win Hospital in Taunggyi, Shan State, on 16 September 2026; and 28 children treated at OKKALA Hospital in North Okkalapa Township, Yangon. The remaining 16 children are scheduled to undergo surgery in October and November 2026. Through the initiative, ATOM aims to improve children’s health, quality of life, and confidence while helping them access essential surgical treatment, follow-up care, and better opportunities for the future.
Every child deserves the opportunity to smile with confidence and look forward to a brighter future.” said Ahmad Abdallah, Chief Executive Officer of ATOM. “While our role is to connect people through technology, we also believe in contributing to the communities we serve. Through our “ATOM’s Lifetime Gift” initiative and collaboration with trusted medical partners, we are proud to support children with access to essential cleft lip and palate surgery. We hope this initiative will not only improve their health and wellbeing, but also bring brighter smile, greater confidence, new opportunities, and hope for children and their families.”
Through its partnerships with trusted medical providers, ATOM’s support covers essential treatment-related expenses, including medical assessment and consultation, surgical procedures, hospitalisation, anesthesia, medication, and immediate post-operative care. Beneficiaries are assessed and selected by ATOM’s partnered hospitals based on medical and clinical requirements. Children must be diagnosed with cleft lips and/or cleft palate and be medically fit to undergo surgery, with parent or guardian consent obtained before treatment.
Dr Poe Hsandee Zaw, Chief Operation Officer (COO) of Myat Taw Win Hospital said “Cleft lip and palate are congenital conditions that can affect a child’s health, essential functions such as eating, speaking and breathing, confidence, and overall wellbeing. With appropriate surgical treatment and follow-up care, children can experience improved health outcomes that can make a meaningful difference to both children and their families. We sincerely appreciate ATOM’s support in helping children access the medical care they need. Through this collaboration, we are pleased to contribute to better health outcomes and brighter futures for these children.”
In support of this initiative, ATOM encourages members of the public to share information about the programme with families who may have children requiring cleft lip or cleft palate surgery. For registration and enquiries, parents or guardians can contact OKKALA Hospital directly at 09-771531814 and 09-963062003.
